Project Note

A closer look at DemoTake

DemoTake is a Mac app for product demo videos made of scenes. Retake one scene when the UI changes and keep the rest. It adds zooms, a smooth cursor, shorter waits and moving redaction, and exports 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and GIF from one take. A coding agent can help over MCP. Local is $129 once; subscriptions start at $159 a year.

Why scenes matter

Anyone who has kept a product demo current knows the problem. The button moves, the settings page gets a new tab, and a three-minute video is suddenly wrong in one spot. DemoTake treats a demo as a take made of short scenes in order. Each scene has its own recording and its own edits, so when the interface changes you retake only the scene that shows it, and the edits on the other scenes stay as they were.

Planning works the same way. You write the story as short scenes with a goal for each, or ask a coding agent to draft them from the feature you just built.

What the app edits for you

The edits are the kind a video editor would otherwise do by hand. The camera moves in on each click and typed field and eases back out. The pointer glides between clicks and leaves a ripple. Waits and loading spinners get shortened. The window sits on a soft background with rounded corners. Redaction finds emails, tokens, card numbers and one-time codes and keeps the blur on them as they move, which matters if you record against real accounts. You can also add captions, or ask in plain words for a change like tightening the intro. Every change stays an edit you can open, adjust or undo.

From one take you export 16:9 for a site or docs, 9:16 and 1:1 for social, and GIFs. Share links play in the browser, and viewers can download only if you allow it. The agent edition can also record apps in the iOS Simulator with touch indicators and a device frame.

Price, privacy and requirements

Local is $129 once for up to three Macs and includes 12 months of updates. After that, an Update Pass is optional at $39 a year, and the version you bought keeps working. Local covers the recorder, editor, every export, share links and a local MCP server for your own agent, and AI edits use your own key. Director is $159 a year, or $19 a month, and adds hosted AI, 30 AI music tracks a month, a recorder in a cloud browser and a cloud library. Team is $329 per user a year. The pricing page calls these launch prices.

The privacy policy says local takes stay on your Mac and the company never holds a copy. AI features are optional. When they're on, the app sends redacted, structured text by default rather than your screen, and it replaces likely secrets and personal identifiers before a request goes to the models through OpenRouter. The app sends no usage analytics. DemoTake is made by Sansavision, a division of Sansa Group AB in Gothenburg. It needs macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon or Intel, and there's a three-day trial with no card, plus one free take in the browser version.
