Project Note

A closer look at FindUtils

A free online toolbox of 463 single-purpose tools across 15 categories, including developer utilities, converters, PDF and image tools, calculators and network lookups, plus guides and an early-access API and MCP server.

A drawer full of single-purpose tools

FindUtils is the kind of site you open for one small job and close again. It has 463 tools across 15 categories, each on its own page and each doing one thing: compress a JPEG, merge PDFs, convert a HEX color to HSL, encode a file as Base64, or check a site's security headers. There's no account and nothing to install.

The size of the collection is both the appeal and the problem. A long list of tools is hard to browse, so the homepage leans on a popular-tools list and saved favorites. The better answer is the workflow pages, which line up tools for a real task. Clean up a spreadsheet runs through a CSV viewer, a column extractor and a CSV to Excel converter. Prepare a PDF to send chains a merger, a compressor and a page-numbering tool. That's closer to how people actually use these utilities, one step after another.

Where your data goes

The homepage says files stay in your browser, and the privacy policy says that's true for most tools. The exceptions matter. Network tools such as DNS, WHOIS and SSL lookups send the domain or IP to a resolver or service, and the HTTP request builder and webhook tester relay traffic through FindUtils servers. The site also has AI features and an Ask AI button, and the privacy policy doesn't say which provider handles them. Each tool's page is the reference for what leaves your device, so check it before pasting anything sensitive.

The pages carry analytics and Google AdSense ads. Sponsor placements are marked Sponsored and use nofollow links without sponsor scripts, according to the site.

Guides, API and MCP

Alongside the tools there are 254 guides, cheatsheets and a changelog. For developers, FindUtils lists a REST API with 387 endpoints and an MCP server with 388 tools for AI clients. Keys aren't on sale yet, and calls without one are refused, so for now that side is early access only. The site also notes it has no connection to GNU findutils, the Unix file-search package with the same name.
