A closer look at Glaido
Glaido is a voice dictation app for macOS, Windows 11 and Linux. Hold a hotkey, speak, and it strips filler words and fixes formatting, then pastes the text into the active app. It supports 100+ languages, custom dictionaries, per-app formatting rules and snippets. The free plan covers 2,000 words a week, and Pro is $17 per user a month, billed annually.
Talking instead of typing
Dictation built into operating systems tends to give you a raw transcript, ums included. Glaido aims at the cleanup step. You hold a hotkey, speak, and it turns what you said into tidy text and pastes it into the active window. The example on its site shows a spoken "refactor this function to use uh, async await instead of promises" coming out as a clean sentence, with the filler gone and async/await written correctly.
That makes it useful for people who spend the day writing prompts and messages, which is who the site targets, naming Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Slack and Gmail.
Making it fit your work
A personal dictionary handles the words speech recognition usually mangles, like Kubernetes, Supabase or a colleague's surname, and can swap a term automatically, such as writing "Postgres" as "PostgreSQL." Formatting rules can differ by app: relaxed and lowercase in chat, polished in email, a code-friendly style for prompts. Snippets and voice commands cover text you repeat often.
The free plan also includes an agent mode and more than 100 languages with custom prompts, and a dashboard tracks words per minute, time saved, a daily streak and a searchable history of past dictations.
Privacy and plans
Glaido runs on macOS, Windows 11 and Linux. The free Basic plan gives 2,000 words a week with AI cleanup and agent mode, and Pro removes the word limit for $17 per user a month billed annually, with extra seats on one bill and priority processing. Enterprise adds SSO, dedicated data processing and API access.
The site advertises zero data retention. The privacy policy, updated October 25, 2026, explains what that means in practice. Transcription, formatting and AI features run through a small set of service providers, including Groq, under data processing agreements, while Glaido doesn't keep your dictation text in its own database and keeps a temporary history on your device. The policy names GLAIDOVOICE AI SOLUTIONS - FZCO, a free-zone company in the United Arab Emirates, as the operator.
