Project Note

A closer look at IndieDebut

IndieDebut is a free product launch directory for independent makers. You sign in, describe a working product, and it joins an editorial queue with a two-day review target. Approved products get a public page in one of seven categories and can be upvoted by signed-in users. Free listings use a regular link, and paid featured spots are marked sponsored.

A directory, not a launch day

IndieDebut pitches itself as a free alternative to Product Hunt for one specific need, an ongoing listing rather than a scheduled launch. There's no hunter, no launch date and no submission package to buy. You describe a product that already works, it waits in a review queue, and if it's approved it stays up with its own page.

The site is careful about what that gets you. Its FAQ says a listing doesn't guarantee search indexing, AI recommendations, signups or sales, and it doesn't claim the audience or launch-day reach of bigger platforms.

What a listing includes

An approved page carries your tagline, description, category, pricing label and a link to your site. The site states that the link is a regular one, without nofollow or sponsored attributes. Paid featured placement is a separate option that uses a sponsored link, and the About page says a featured spot is a placement, not a rating.

Voting is simple. Signed-in users get one vote per product and can take it back, and the Top view sorts by votes. The site also publishes a launch guide and a comparison of 12 launch directories and communities, which includes IndieDebut itself and says so.

How early it is

On October 28, 2026 the directory listed 72 products, and the ones on the front page were established names chosen by the site, including Plausible, Raycast, Obsidian and Cursor, each showing zero upvotes. The About page explains that the directory mixes editorial picks with approved maker submissions, and that a listing isn't evidence the maker joined or endorsed it.

For now, then, this is a place to add a listing and a followed link rather than a source of launch traffic. There's no visible community activity yet. The privacy policy, updated October 25, 2026, covers account, usage and device data and says the site uses no session recording.
