Project Note

A closer look at Lagom

Lagom is an iPhone photo cleaner that splits your camera roll into monthly decks you swipe through to keep, delete or decide later. Nothing is deleted until you review and confirm, and Smart Clean suggests the best shot from bursts using on-device analysis. Swiping is free; Pro is $24.99 a year or $7.99 for a 30-day pass. No account, and photos stay on the phone.

A camera roll, one month at a time

Most photo cleaners open with a scan and a big count of "junk". Lagom starts smaller. It splits the library into months, oldest first, and you swipe through one deck at a time. Right keeps a photo, left marks it for deletion, and up puts it in an Unsure pile that returns in two weeks. Because the decks run oldest first, new photos don't reshuffle the month you're halfway through, and each swipe is saved as you make it.

There are other ways in when a whole month feels like too much: an On This Day deck, a screenshots inbox for ones older than 30 days that you never sorted, and a random 20.

How deleting works

This is the part worth understanding before you start. Lagom doesn't delete anything while you swipe. It gathers everything you marked into one grid, where you can rescue photos, and then you confirm once in Apple's dialog. It deletes through the Photos library, so if you use iCloud Photos, a deleted photo disappears from every device signed in to your Apple Account. Deleted items then sit in Recently Deleted for 30 days, which is why your storage doesn't drop right away. Lagom shows a receipt with the exact space and walks you to Recently Deleted if you want it back sooner.

Smart Clean groups bursts and near-identical shots and suggests a keeper, with a reason such as being the sharpest of the group. It also finds duplicates, blurry photos and large videos, and it leaves favourites and photos in your albums out of its suggestions.

Pricing and privacy

Swiping and deleting are free and unlimited, with no ads. Pro is $24.99 a year with the first week free, and the site says it reminds you two days before the trial ends. If you only clear out once a year, a $7.99 Cleanup Pass gives 30 days of Pro and doesn't renew. Pro adds Smart Clean in bulk, largest-first and video decks, filing photos into albums while you swipe and turning Live Photos into stills, and it works with Family Sharing.

The privacy policy is short and specific. Photos, the analysis and your keep or delete choices stay on the iPhone, there's no account, and the app makes no network requests to the company. The App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected. Apple handles payments and notifies the developer of purchases without passing on your name or email. Lagom is made by Sansa Vision, a division of Sansa Group AB in Sweden. It needs iOS 18 or later, and a Mac version is in the works.
