Project Radar

pic2svg

pic2svg traces a PNG, JPG or WebP logo into editable SVG paths on its own server, and the SVG download is free without an account. PDF, EPS, AI and DXF exports need a paid plan.

Project Note

A closer look at pic2svg

An image-to-SVG converter for logos, icons and drawings. It traces raster images into editable vector paths with a vtracer-based engine, gives you the SVG free with no sign-up, and charges for production formats such as PDF, EPS, AI and DXF.

A tracer for logos, not photos

pic2svg takes a raster image and turns it into SVG paths you can open and change in standard vector software. Its use-case pages point at logos, icons, signatures and drawings, the flat artwork a printer or sign maker usually wants as a vector file.

The converter is the first thing on the homepage. You drop, pick or paste an image, choose a trace preset, and drag a slider to compare the original with the traced result. If all you need is an SVG, that's the whole job, and you don't need an account for it.

Limits worth knowing first

Two details on the site shape what you'll get back. The tracer works at about 0.6 megapixels, so your browser scales larger images down before uploading them. That works for a logo, but thin linework in a big drawing will lose detail. Transparent areas are flattened onto white, so a logo saved on a transparent background comes back on white. The maker also says it isn't a background remover and won't turn lettering back into editable text, so expect outlined shapes rather than fonts.

Images go to pic2svg's own server at api.pic2svg.com, not to a third-party vectorizing service, and the FAQ says the temporary file is deleted after a successful trace. If you're tracing a client's logo, that's useful to have in writing.

When it costs money

Tracing, previewing and SVG download stay free on every plan. The paid plans are for production formats and the licence to ship them. Starter, at $79 a year, covers 200 PDF exports per billing period. Pro, at $159 a year, matches the free trial week: every format, unlimited exports and a commercial licence. Advanced is $399 a year, and monthly billing is also offered. New accounts get seven days of Pro without a card, and an export the engine fails to produce goes back to your allowance.

Batch tracing of up to 12 images needs a free sign-in. The footer also links an MCP server and API, for anyone who wants to run conversions from their own tools.
