A closer look at Retypit
Retypit edits the words in an image while keeping the original font, color and texture. Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP up to 20MB, and it detects each line of text so you can click one and retype it, leaving faces, backgrounds and layout untouched. New accounts get welcome credits. Its terms ban editing IDs, certificates, invoices and other official documents, and uploads are screened for them.
Click a line, retype it
Retypit's first step is detection. Drop in a poster, a photo or a screenshot and it finds every line of text, so you work on the words directly instead of selecting a region by hand. Click a line, type the replacement, and the AI rebuilds the lettering to match the original font, color and texture. The rest of the image, including faces, props and the layout, stays as it was.
The site's examples show the range. A coffee shop sign changes from Morning to Evening in the same gold serif on wood. A poster's headline, date and tagline are rewritten together. A photographed restaurant menu gets six new prices without a reshoot. In each case there's no source file, only the finished image.
Screening for documents
Changing text in images invites misuse, and Retypit's terms go further than a warning. You may not edit official or identity documents, including government IDs, passports, driver's licenses, visas, certificates, diplomas, bank statements, cheques, invoices, tax forms, banknotes or anything bearing an official seal. Uploads are screened automatically, and images that appear to be such documents can be blocked without a charge. Accounts that break the rules can be terminated, and the terms say matters may be reported to authorities where the law requires it.
Accounts, credits and data
Sign-up comes with welcome credits, and paid options include subscriptions and one-time credit packs, though prices aren't listed on the public pages. The terms say purchases are generally final and non-refundable. Retypit is operated by Vision Forge Co., Ltd. Its privacy policy, updated October 23, 2026, says submitted images are sent to technical providers that perform the detection and editing, and that data is kept only as long as needed before being deleted or anonymized.
