A closer look at SiftingIO US Stocks API
A US equity data API covering live trades and quotes over REST and WebSocket, OHLCV history from 1-minute to monthly bars, company lookup, SEC filings, XBRL financials, and Form 3/4/5 and 13F ownership records.
Prices and filings from one key
If you're building anything that looks at US stocks, you usually need two kinds of data: prices, and what companies have filed with the SEC. SiftingIO's US Stocks API offers both. One key gets you live trades and quotes, historical price bars, company profiles, filings, XBRL financials and ownership records.
On the price side there's the latest trade, the top-of-book quote and the previous close over REST, plus a WebSocket stream for symbols your plan covers. Historical OHLCV bars come at intervals from 1 minute to 1 month, regular session only, with UTC timestamps and cursor pagination. The page lists a median API delivery time under 100 ms and more than 25 years of history, with depth depending on when a ticker listed.
The SEC side
This is where it goes beyond a basic quote API. Company search returns CIK, exchange, SIC code and fiscal year end. Filings cover 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements and Schedule 13D and 13G. XBRL endpoints return full financial bundles, single concepts across periods, screeners and accounting ratios, though price-based ratios such as P/E aren't included yet. Ownership data covers normalized Form 3, 4 and 5 insider transactions and current 13F institutional positions.
Licensing and price
The fine print is worth reading, and it's written clearly. SiftingIO says its data is aggregated and normalized from third-party sources, it doesn't redistribute raw exchange feeds or official exchange-of-record prices, and its values may differ from a given exchange or broker. Usage rights depend on whether you're a professional or non-professional user, whether the data is displayed, and whether you redistribute it. The operator, SaltingIO LLC, states it isn't an exchange and doesn't execute trades.
The free plan, with no card required, includes 10,000 REST calls a month, one WebSocket connection and five symbol subscriptions for internal, non-commercial use. Pro for US stocks is listed at $320 a month and adds commercial and customer-facing display rights within plan terms. Raw-feed redistribution, sublicensing and high-volume embedded use may require an Enterprise agreement.
