A closer look at TattooGen.me

TattooGen.me is an AI tattoo concept tool. Describe an idea or upload a photo or sketch, pick a style, and it generates four directions from minimal to bold. You can refine them in plain language, preview placement, make a stencil and export an artist brief. One anonymous draft is free, a single-project pass is $19.99 and Pro is $24.99 a month.

From a story to a brief

Plenty of AI image tools can draw something that looks like a tattoo. TattooGen.me aims at the step after that, turning an idea into something a tattoo artist can work from. The site's own example is a small crane for a grandmother, with ocean waves and enough negative space to age well on an inner forearm. It ends up as a brief with a 3 to 4 inch target, less fragile detail and two alternate compositions.

You can start from words, a photo or sketch, or a request for inspiration. Before generating anything, it confirms the subject, placement, size, line weight and anything that has to be included, which is the information an artist will ask for anyway.

Four directions and refinement

Each brief produces four concepts in one style, labeled clean and minimal, balanced and classic, bold and detailed, and editorial, or you can explore across styles. The site notes that the variations may be subtle. Refinement works in plain language, earlier versions are kept, and you can check placement with a private Try-On and make a stencil. The final export bundles the concept with its constraints, references and revision notes.

It's upfront about the limits. The site repeats that these are planning references and that a professional artist should adapt the design for skin, placement, line weight and long-term wear.

Privacy and price

Projects are private by default, and uploads and generated designs don't go into the public gallery unless you ask. The privacy policy, updated September 20, 2026, says images may be sent to the generation provider the operators choose, and generated images may be checked by SeeAPI for NSFW content before delivery. Signed-in users can delete a project and its files, and anonymous projects are removed after a retention period shown in the product.

You can make one anonymous draft for free. A Tattoo Project Pass costs $19.99 once for 250 credits over 90 days, Pro is $24.99 a month for 350 credits that don't roll over, and one-time top-ups are available.
