A closer look at TiltCue
TiltCue is a Mac menu-bar reminder app that uses compatible headphone-motion data to notice sustained head tilt relative to a chosen reference.
Wait for a sustained tilt
TiltCue's reference starts with five steady seconds. You then choose a delay of 5 to 120 seconds before a continuous change in head tilt triggers a reminder. The listing says brief glances do not automatically trigger a cue, and returning near the reference starts a fresh delay for the next sustained tilt.
A prompt tied to a sustained change may suit a long reading or writing session. The signal is relative to the chosen reference, with no measurement of spinal alignment or whole-body posture. Readings may be inaccurate or missed; a missing reminder does not indicate a safe or healthy position.
Choose how the reminder reaches you
The listing offers a short screen glow, a system banner and optional sound. The glow is described as fading once over 2.2 seconds while leaving the center of the screen and input focus alone. Tracking can be paused, reminders snoozed for ten minutes, and quiet hours set.
Only system banners require notification permission. The developer warns that app-managed glow and sound may still appear during Focus. Choose the system-banner option if following macOS notification settings matters to your work.
Check the Mac and headphones first
TiltCue needs macOS 14 or later, an Apple-silicon Mac and headphones that supply the required motion data to macOS. A working Bluetooth audio connection is not enough, and not every AirPods model is supported. Confirm the headset, firmware and OS combination before relying on the feature.
The US App Store listing showed Free on October 11, 2026 and states that there are no subscriptions or in-app purchases. This note checks the public listing and policy; the app and headphone behavior were not tested.
A local view of the week
The developer describes measured time, reminder events and time within the reference range, with a seven-day history view and CSV export. Missing readings are excluded from good or bad time. The policy says derived history stays on the Mac for 90 days and can be deleted from the app menu. Exported copies and device backups are separate.
The TiltCue-specific policy says motion processing is local and the app uses no account, camera, microphone, advertising or third-party analytics. The developer's website has its own optional analytics, which is a separate browsing choice. The stored measurements are awareness records, not health assessments.
