A closer look at ToolAha

ToolAha is a directory of AI tools, apps, skills and MCP resources, with 496 profiles you can filter by task, category and type. An editor's shelf picks starting points such as ChatGPT, Claude Code and Canva, each with a stated reason. Browsing and standard submissions are free. Priority review costs US$19 and a labeled category spotlight costs US$49.

Organized by what you're trying to do

Most AI directories are long lists sorted by upvotes or recency. ToolAha starts from the task. Its front page offers four routes, putting ideas into words, bringing stories to life, building something and making room to focus, and each leads to tools for that job. Below that, a filterable index covers categories from audio and coding to research and writing, and lets you narrow to apps, skills, MCP resources or open-source projects.

The editor's shelf is a short list of starting points with a reason attached to each. ChatGPT is there as an everyday starting point, Claude Code for coding agents, Canva for everyday design and n8n for teams wiring AI into repeatable workflows. None of those picks will surprise anyone, but each comes with a specific reason for being there.

How it says it ranks

The site is more open about its ordering than most. It says recommendations combine public adoption signals, professional workflow use and use-case fit, admits those numbers aren't directly comparable, and lists its sources, a mix of surveys, company disclosures and review sites, with a review date of October 13, 2026. It states this isn't a click leaderboard or a hands-on score, and that sponsorships are labeled separately.

Coverage of newer tools is thinner. Recently added profiles, which on October 28 included small indie tools and AI video templates, carry a Not verified label, so treat those entries as listings rather than recommendations.

Submitting a tool

Makers can submit for free, and claims and corrections are free too, though ordinary submissions have no guaranteed review date. A US$19 one-time priority review promises a decision or a request for information within three UTC business days, with a full refund on a final rejection, and the pricing page says payment doesn't guarantee publication or ranking. A category spotlight costs US$49 for seven days above the regular list, marked Sponsored. The privacy policy, updated October 13, 2026, names Cloudflare as the host and identifies the operator as an individual based in China.
