Project overview

The short version

Read the full Project Note

Extract Stems is a web tool for splitting a recorded song into separate parts. You upload an MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or OGG file up to 100 MB and 10 minutes, choose two stems for vocals and instrumental or four or six stems for a finer split including drums, then listen to each part and download it as MP3, WAV or FLAC. Common uses on the site include making an instrumental, isolating a cappella vocals, building a karaoke backing track and pulling out drums to practice with. A verified account gets 5 free minutes with no card, and after that minute packs run from $2.99 for 15 minutes to $29.99 for 300, with no subscription and no expiry. The privacy policy says audio is processed through Replicate and stored privately, and results are deleted 7 days after they finish. The site asks you to use only audio you own or have permission to process.
