The short version
Fortune is a small app for sending a kind word to nobody in particular. You write up to 140 characters, optionally attach a link from Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music or SoundCloud, and the message goes to someone who opens Fortune somewhere in the world. You can't pick the recipient. They see the message and the sender's country, never a name or profile, and they can open the song, send back a thank-you card, hide the card or report it. If a thank-you comes back, the sender learns which country the message reached. It runs on the web, with apps on the App Store and Google Play, and the interface comes in more than a dozen languages. The terms also cover attaching a gift amount to a message, paid through Stripe when the receiver claims it. Fortune is run by Flatbitstudio Inc. in Japan, and its privacy policy and terms open as panels from the homepage footer.
