Project overview
The short version
Freeboard is a public message board that doesn't need an account. You write a post, and if you allow location, it's tagged with a place name and shows up in nearby discovery. Without location, you can still browse city pages or topic Boards such as tech, food, gaming, for-sale and help-wanted, each with its own live chat. Every post has its own link, so you can bring a specific person into a thread. Optional accounts exist for managing your own posts. The privacy page says posts are public by default and warns against sharing personal information, and each post has a report option. Activity is light so far, with a couple of people online at a time and many local posts weeks old.
