Project overview
The short version
Kilobat CLI is a GPL-3.0 command-line tool for macOS that covers network monitoring and diagnostics. It shows which apps are using the network, Wi-Fi signal and channels, latency and packet loss, DNS, speed tests, why a particular host or API won't connect, whether traffic leaves through a VPN, and data use on metered hotspots. It can also keep the Mac awake while a long job runs. Every command returns JSON. Running kilobat mcp starts a local stdio MCP server with 43 tools, so agents like Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor or Claude Desktop can run the same checks. Read-only tools need no confirmation, and tools that change settings tell the agent to ask you first. Install it with Homebrew, which builds from source with Xcode 16 or newer, on macOS 14 or later. Wi-Fi network names need the separate, proprietary Kilobat menu-bar app because of macOS location permissions.
