The short version
Lighter is a manual photo cleaner. You give it access to all your photos or a selection, choose whether to start with the oldest or the newest, and go through them one at a time. A left swipe marks a photo for deletion, a right swipe keeps it, and you can undo or open the full image, Live Photos included, before deciding. Nothing is deleted on a swipe. When you tap Finish, the marked photos appear in a grid where you can change your mind, and deletion needs a confirmation in Lighter and a second one from Apple Photos. Your place is saved on the device, so a few minutes now and a few later works fine. The privacy policy says there are no photo uploads, no account and no ads or tracking. It's deliberately simple. It doesn't find duplicates and skips videos and hidden photos. With iCloud Photos on, deletions sync to your other devices and sit in Recently Deleted for 30 days. The App Store lists it as free, for iOS 18 or later.
