Project overview

The short version

Read the full Project Note

Macsmith is a Swift and SwiftUI app for macOS 14 or later that gives a Mac developer one window for the small environment jobs that usually mean hunting for terminal commands. Its 20 tools cover finding and stopping the process on a port, Homebrew packages and services, local PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB, runtimes from mise and nvm, Lima and Colima VMs, SSH keys, the hosts file, shell aliases, DNS lookups, Caddy and mkcert certificate trust, ngrok and cloudflared tunnels, AWS profiles, rclone remotes and developer cache cleanup. The free version shows everything and lets you search across it. Pro, a one-time $5 at launch for one developer on up to three Macs, lets you install, update, start and stop, with each change shown before it runs and checked afterward. It needs no account for free use, and the app is signed and notarized by Apple.
