Project Note

A closer look at Easypanel

A self-hosted web panel for deploying applications and managing databases on your own server.

An app and its database in one project

Easypanel organizes deployment around projects and services. For an internal tool, for example, a project could contain the web app and its Postgres database. The documented workflow keeps environment settings, persistent storage and the app's domain in the panel, then provides deployment output and runtime logs when something fails.

Applications can come from a Git repository or a container image. The guide also describes GitHub deployments triggered by a push. A team running several small apps can use the same deployment process for each while choosing its own hosting provider.

Three projects on the free plan

The pricing page checked October 6, 2026 lists a free plan with up to three projects, unlimited services and deployments, and basic monitoring. Because a project can contain multiple services, adding a database does not necessarily use another project slot. Those software limits do not remove the capacity limits of the server.

Paid licenses are priced per server. Hobby adds unlimited projects, advanced monitoring, notifications and database backups; Growth adds multiple users and access control. Server and backup-storage bills are separate from the panel license. Easypanel is commercial software with a free tier, not an open-source panel.

The host still needs an owner

The installation documentation calls for a fresh Ubuntu server with at least 2 GB of RAM and ports 80 and 443 available. Its setup uses Docker and Docker Swarm. These are installation requirements, not a sizing recommendation for every workload.

Easypanel's operations guide leaves capacity, operating-system updates, network access and recovery with the team running the server. The panel can organize deployment work, but a small agency or product team still needs someone responsible for restoring the app when its host fails.
