Global Data Tracker

Global Data Tracker gathers population, economic, health and environmental statistics into country pages, rankings and a globe. A country page puts a handful of figures at the top, then lets you choose a measure and reporting year for a longer view. No account is needed to browse.

The United States population page, for example, includes a historical chart, an explanation of the measure and a link to the original World Bank indicator. That makes it a useful starting point for a class, a presentation or a question that sends you looking for a source.

The overview can show figures from several different years. “Latest published” means the newest observation available in the site’s saved data release, not a measurement taken today. The methodology also cautions that matching years alone do not make different measures comparable.

Those labels matter when taking a number out of the page. Keep its year, unit and source with it, and follow the original indicator when you need the definition behind a comparison.

The homepage’s moving totals are estimates. Population counters interpolate between annual projections; GDP counters spread a published annual value across the calendar year. Neither records events as they happen.

The globe has a similar distinction: its day-and-night display is illustrative, and historical views use present-day boundaries. The country tables and source links are the firmer place to begin a research question.
