Long-form Project Note

A closer look at Magic Hour

A browser studio and developer API for generating and editing AI video, images and audio.

This note reflects a first-time user perspective.

Start with the asset you need

Magic Hour organizes its public entry points around concrete tasks: turn text into video, animate a photo, edit an image, or add speech to a portrait. That makes the broad tool catalogue easier to approach when a creator already knows the input and output they need. The homepage also points to audio tools and downloadable images, clips, GIFs and audio.

The browser and developer routes differ

The developer introduction says the web app gets new features first, while the REST API exposes a selection of its tools. API-generated content is described as appearing in the same account library. Teams planning an integration should check the particular endpoint they need instead of assuming every browser feature has an API equivalent.

The linked MCP page describes giving an AI assistant access to Magic Hour's API documentation. That is useful developer context, but it does not establish a working media-generation integration. No account was created, media uploaded, API request made or MCP server connected for this first look.

Check the plan before making a campaign

The homepage says supported tools can be tried without signup, with limits varying by workflow. It distinguishes free personal use from the commercial rights included with paid subscriptions, and says credit packs alone do not add those subscription rights. A campaign brief should therefore include the intended use and export requirements before a creator spends credits. The examples on the site do not establish output quality for a particular prompt or source file.
