A closer look at PDF Reference Linker

PDF Reference Linker is a Chrome extension for adding internal links to long PDFs. Map each label, such as Exhibit A, to a page by hand, from bookmarks or from a CSV, review every match, then export a linked copy. Scanning, review and the CSV report are free. Exporting the linked PDF costs €49 once. Processing runs locally in the extension.

The job it does

Legal filings, contracts and long reports often point to the same few exhibits or appendices dozens of times. Making those references clickable in an ordinary PDF editor means drawing a link box around each one. PDF Reference Linker cuts that down to mapping each label once.

You can type mappings, reuse the PDF's own internal bookmarks or import a CSV of labels and target pages, up to 500 labels. Matching can be case-sensitive or not. Destination numbers are physical page positions starting at 1, which matters when a document's printed page numbers start somewhere else.

Review before anything is written

The extension lists every match, up to 10,000, with the page it was found on and where it will point. You can jump to either page and untick anything wrong before export. Export writes standard internal links into a downloaded copy, keeps any links the file already had, and never overwrites the original. The site offers a three-page synthetic sample PDF and mapping CSV, so you can see the before and after without using your own file.

The limits are specific. It takes one PDF at a time, unsigned and unencrypted, with selectable text, up to 50 MiB and 500 pages, and dense documents can hit the browser's processing limit sooner. There's no OCR, so scanned pages won't match, and a reference has to sit on one line of text.

Price and privacy

Everything up to export is free, including the CSV match report, so you can confirm a document works before paying. Pro unlocks linked-PDF export for €49 once, tax included, with no expiry for version 1 and up to three browser installations. Each paid export runs an online license check. The site says PDF text, filenames and mappings are processed in the extension and aren't sent to the developer, its payment provider Dodo Payments, Google or any AI service. It comes from Kastovia Holdings LLC, which also runs an automation services business and makes two other Chrome tools.
