A closer look at the wired
A text-based community for people aged 18 and over, with topic layers, a shared feed and pseudonymous identities.
Choose a topic layer
Start with a subject you'd like to read or discuss. Its public pages show topic layers, including #technology, alongside the #everything feed. You can browse the posts and choose a subject that interests you before taking part.
Know what an identity means
The policy describes an identity key as the main association with the network and allows optional email to help secure an identity.
Private messages have a clearer limit. The policy says they are monitored, so they should not be treated as confidential from the operator. No identity was created and the messaging workflow wasn't used for this note.
Read the community rules
The policy checked on October 13, 2026 sets a minimum age of 18. It prohibits pornography across all layers, harassment and disclosure of other people's personal information. The policy allows its moderators to exclude threats.
