A closer look at TypingTest.si

A free browser typing test that measures WPM and accuracy over 30 seconds, 1, 3 or 5 minutes, with common-word and natural-passage modes, practice drills, and test text in 12 languages. No account needed.

A typing test that turns into practice

Most typing tests stop at a number. TypingTest.si gives you the number, then hands you the words you got wrong and lets you practice them. That second step is what sets it apart.

The test itself is familiar. You pick 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes or 5 minutes, choose common words or natural passages, and start typing. Backspace corrects mistakes, and you can tell it whether you're on a physical keyboard or a touch screen. Results show WPM, accuracy and a cumulative speed curve.

The 5-Minute Practice routine is the clever part. It runs a one-minute test, spends three minutes drilling the words you missed, then gives you a one-minute retest. Comparing the two scores shows whether the practice actually did anything, which a single test can't tell you.

How it scores

The site spells out its scoring, which matters if you need to report a number for a job application or a class. It counts characters per minute from correct visible characters, including spaces and punctuation, and divides by five to get WPM. Accuracy counts every character you typed, including errors you later fixed, so going back to correct a typo still costs you accuracy. It's worth knowing before you compare scores across sites.

Test text is available in English and 11 other languages, among them Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Korean and both simplified and traditional Chinese. You choose the text language separately from the interface language.

What stays on your device

There's no account. According to the privacy page, up to 500 completed sessions, your settings and the words queued for review are kept in your browser's local storage, so clearing browser data or switching devices starts you fresh. Full typed input isn't saved to history. The site uses Google Analytics 4, which may set cookies, but says your typing data isn't sent to it. The site doesn't name the person or company behind it.
