Project overview
The short version
Learn Thai Alphabet & Tones, published by individual developer Mikhail Eshchenko as Sabai Study Apps, is an Android and iPhone app for adults who want to read Thai script rather than learn phrases by sound. Its 90 lessons sit in five modules: first letters, live and dead syllables, the mid-class consonants, high-class consonants with the silent ห, and the five tones read from spelling. Each lesson mixes building syllables, listening and tracing, and earlier signs keep coming back in new words. Lessons, recordings and review flashcards work offline, there's no account and no ads, and the interface comes in English, Russian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese. The first 7 lessons are free; the other 83 need a monthly or yearly subscription or a lifetime purchase. Optional speaking practice uses on-device recognition on Android, while on iPhone it can fall back to Apple's servers when Thai recognition isn't on the phone.
