Project overview
The short version
MOV Compressor is a free web tool for shrinking QuickTime MOV videos, the format iPhones, Macs and many cameras record in, into smaller MP4 files. The encoding runs in your browser, so the site says the video never leaves your device, and there's no signup or watermark. You can pick a picture quality of High, Balanced or Low, or switch to Target size and type the number of megabytes you need, such as an email attachment limit. Resolution can stay at the original or drop to 1080p, 720p or 480p, and the codec can be H.264 or H.265. Batches are processed one file at a time. It works in current Chrome, Edge and Safari on desktop and mobile and checks each file before encoding. HDR recordings aren't supported yet.
