Project overview
The short version
TextDet is an Android OCR app for turning a photo into text you can edit, search and export. You can scan a document with automatic edge detection, snap and crop a photo, pick up to 20 images from the gallery, paste one, share one in from another app or import a PDF page. The reading runs entirely on the phone, using Google ML Kit for Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Devanagari scripts plus PP-OCR models from the TextDet website, so it works offline. You can correct any word, tap detection boxes to drop or restore lines, and tap web addresses, emails and phone numbers to act on them. Scans stay in a searchable, taggable library on the device and export as TXT or Markdown, or can be read aloud. The free app has no ads, account or daily limit. TextDet Pro adds multi-page documents, whole-PDF import, searchable PDF, Word and CSV exports, receipt line items and on-device translation between 59 languages, for $3.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $29.99 once. It's made by NornWorks LLC.
