Project overview
The short version
Transly is a translation app for iPhone, Android and Mac. Its iPhone keyboard lets you speak in one language and insert the translated text into apps like Messages or email. A conversation mode translates two people speaking in turn and reads the result aloud in a generated voice. An overlay shows real-time subtitles while you watch a video or listen to a conversation in another app, and the video translator adds bilingual subtitles to local videos that you can keep as text or an SRT file. It supports major languages including English, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish. The apps are free to download with in-app purchases. Transly is made by Vectorlightyear, whose privacy policy says text, audio and media you submit are processed through service providers to fulfil requests and are not sold.
