Project overview

The short version

Read the full Project Note

ubnas helps people plan a home NAS before they buy the drives. Its main calculator takes a drive count and size, including mixed sizes up to 60 bays, and a layout from RAID 0 through RAIDZ3, SHR or Unraid, then shows usable space in TB and in the TiB figure your NAS will report, how many drives can fail, and how much goes to parity. Two smaller calculators estimate yearly running cost from idle watts and your electricity price, and how many years an SSD will last from its TBW rating and daily writes. Every result shows the formula. Around the tools sit 54 guides on NAS hardware, drives, self-hosted apps such as Immich and Jellyfin, backups and homelab networking, which cite datasheets and official docs. The site says it doesn't run a hardware lab and doesn't present research as testing. It is free with no sign-up and earns money from affiliate links and ads.
