Exam prep

Practice for the exam ahead

Five independent practice sites for IT certifications, AP courses, a nurse aide exam and beginner Mandarin, each with free material you can try before signing up or paying.

A practice question is only as useful as the explanation after it. Getting one wrong and seeing why is where most of the learning happens. Every site here puts some of its explanations in public, so you can judge whether the reasoning actually helps before you hand over an email address or a card. Find your exam, try the free part first, and keep the official materials open beside whatever you choose.

IT and cloud certifications

Both put free explanations in public. Read a few and see whose reasoning you follow.

  • CertSprint

    Why it belongs here

CertSprint writes its own scenario questions and performance-based tasks for CompTIA exams, Microsoft SC-200 and BTL1, and its homepage sample lab lets you try both formats with no account. A free account adds 20 questions per certification and a short diagnostic, and its domain feedback points at what to review next. It's clear that these aren't real exam questions, and a strong readiness score isn't a promise you'll pass. Exam vouchers aren't included in any purchase.

  • ExamJungle

    Why it belongs here

ExamJungle puts eight AZ-900 questions and their full explanations on a public page, and the explanations go past the right letter: the first one connects Azure virtual machines to Infrastructure as a Service. That's enough to judge whether the teaching style works for you. Its simulator advertises 352 questions with study, timed and flashcard modes, but only eight were unlocked when its Note was checked. Its footer disclaims any vendor endorsement.

School and career exams

One follows AP course topics; the other covers a state nurse aide exam.

  • PrepGo

    Why it belongs here

PrepGo breaks AP courses into units and individual topics, so you can go straight to the concept you're stuck on. On the Calculus AB page, a lesson on limit notation opened with definitions, examples, flashcards and practice questions, all before signing up. Check that the topics you need are really there, because the Calculus AB page showed two different topic totals. Its footer states that the College Board doesn't endorse it.

  • Yes You Can CNA

    Why it belongs here

Yes You Can CNA is a free study desk for North Carolina Nurse Aide I candidates. Its topic guides put practice questions and explanations on open pages, and the desk itself has a daily set, weak-area review, a 60-question practice set and skills rehearsal, with no email or payment needed. Progress stays in your browser and doesn't follow you to another device. The questions are its own, so use the current NC Credentia handbook for the actual exam rules.

A language to start

For a beginner starting Mandarin from the first 150 words.

  • TianTian HSK

    Why it belongs here

TianTian HSK lays out each HSK 1 word as character, pinyin, audio and meaning in English and Portuguese, so 水 sits next to shuǐ, water and água. Practice adds sentence-building, listening and short grammar lessons for patterns like 是 sentences and 吗 questions. Twenty of the 150 words and the first three grammar lessons are free; Premium unlocks the rest. Decks for HSK 2 to 6 are promised but not available yet.

How these projects were chosen

Every pick has a published Project Note, and the groups follow the exam instead of ranking unlike courses against each other. Each site is independent of the body that runs its exam, and none of the Notes establishes question accuracy or a pass rate. Sites whose marketing leans on "official" or guaranteed-pass wording are left out. Prices and free limits change, so check them before paying. Payment and clicks play no part in what's included or in the order.

For students and career changers preparing for one specific exam who want extra practice with real explanations and will check it against the official exam outline.

A review can leave the picks as they are. When a published selection or its guidance changes, a short note here explains why.
