A closer look at Calligraphy Name Generator

Calligraphy Name Generator renders a name or short phrase in 77 Latin fonts, from formal script to graffiti, or 40 Chinese and Japanese brush fonts. Set the ink color, size and background, then download a PNG at three times the preview size. It's free with no signup or watermark, and images are drawn in your browser.

Every style side by side

Picking a script font for a name usually means typing it into a design app and switching fonts one at a time. This page does the comparing for you. Type a name once and it appears across the whole catalog: Great Vibes and Pinyon Script for wedding-invitation formality, Dancing Script and Satisfy for something casual, blackletter faces for a certificate or tattoo, plus bubble, graffiti and handwritten styles. A filter narrows the list to one group.

Each style has its own PNG button, and the download comes out at three times the preview size. Choose Transparent and you get only the ink, which is what you want for Canva, a photo or an invitation layout.

Where it fits and where it doesn't

The wedding-invitation advice is practical. Type the names exactly as they'll be printed, compare a formal script with a simpler one so the capitals stay readable, and keep dates and addresses in a plain font. Save a second version in a contrasting ink if your paper is dark.

The limits are spelled out too. You get a raster image, not an SVG or a font file, so enlarging it past its pixel size will blur it, and a Cricut cut needs tracing first. Some fonts skip accents or uncommon letters, so check every character before you download. For a social bio, the site points you to its separate cursive and fancy-text tools, which output Unicode characters instead of images.

Chinese and Japanese names

Enter Chinese or Japanese characters, such as 李小龍 or 山田, and the font group switches to brush calligraphy in regular, running and grass scripts, with vertical writing and a red seal. If you need a Chinese version of an English name first, there's a companion Chinese name generator.

Everything is free, with no signup and no watermark. The FAQ says the fonts are openly licensed, so the images can go on printed or sold items, and it notes that redistributing a font file is a different matter from using an image. Drawing happens in your browser, and the site loads fonts through its own server so Google doesn't see your IP address.
