Project Note
A closer look at Chinese Oracle Jiaguwen
A visual Chinese character-history app with annotated oracle-bone glyphs, five-script comparisons and tracing, available through iOS and Android links.
Find the picture in the character
The bird example on Chinese Oracle's site labels a beak, eye, body and claws. It gives a learner something concrete to look for in a glyph before trying to remember its shape. Other screenshots show a library with forms for the sun, moon, mountains and animals.
Compare the scripts
The site presents oracle-bone, bronze, seal, clerical and regular scripts together. Following those forms can help a reader notice which parts persisted and which became less pictorial. The Android listing also describes glyph breakdowns, archaeology notes and interactive tracing.
Tracing gives that comparison a practical step: follow the older strokes, then look back at the later form. The public screenshots show the approach; the app was not installed for this note.
Check access and data terms
The official site links to iOS and Android editions. Google Play marks the Android app as offering in-app purchases, so check the current content access before choosing it for regular study.
Its public data disclosures differ. Google Play says no data is collected or shared, while the linked policy describes third-party identifying services and error logs.
