A closer look at Domain Search King
A free AI domain name generator that returns brandable .com names checked live against the registry, with no sign-up.
Names that were free a moment ago
Type "candle" or "late-night coffee roaster that ships beans" and the tool returns two kinds of names: blends that keep your keyword and coined names written by AI. Each .com is then looked up on the registry's RDAP server. A not-found answer means no registration exists, and if a lookup fails or is rate-limited, that extension stays unchecked rather than being called free. Popular keywords come from a cache up to about 30 hours old, and the page rechecks those names in the background and drops any that have since been registered.
The homepage shows its own spot check. On October 15, 2026, the cached coffee results held 18 AI-written names. Rechecked that evening, all 18 were still unregistered, while coffee.com, coffeeshop.com, coffeehouse.com and brewhouse.com were taken. The page also points out that two of the coined names sat close enough to coffee to invite typos, and it calls the test an illustration rather than a success rate.
Why it checks at all
The site's AI Domain Hallucination Index explains the premise. In a September 1, 2026 run, it asked 10 models for available .com names and checked 2,449 picks. Only 30.5% were available and 69.5% were already registered, and even the best model handed back a taken name about half the time. The tool, and an MCP server that runs the same checks for AI assistants, exist to close that gap.
Limits and money
The page is clear that an available result is only a snapshot. It reserves nothing, a registrar can still refuse or reprice a name, and availability says nothing about trademarks. Register links are affiliate links, and the page suggests checking prices on your own as well. The privacy policy, last updated August 2026, lists Microsoft Clarity and Clicky for analytics and says search queries go to AI model providers, which it doesn't name, to generate suggestions.
