A closer look at Craft Switcher
An independent guide to switching from Adobe to Storyteller.ai's free ArtCraft apps, with an optional $19 kit of LUTs, presets and brushes.
A map for leaving Adobe
ArtCraft is a family of free, open-source creative apps from Storyteller.ai, built in Rust, with names that make the intended swap obvious: PhotoCraft for Photoshop, VectorCraft for Illustrator, FilmCraft for Premiere Pro. Craft Switcher is an independent guide to that suite for people weighing the move. It covers seven of the apps, what each one handles, and what to watch for when bringing work across.
The compatibility notes are the useful part. PhotoCraft documents PSD and PSB handling, but the guide suggests testing layered files on copies first. VectorCraft reads PDF-compatible Illustrator files, which isn't every .ai file, so fonts, strokes and effects need checking after import. For FilmCraft it recommends an interchange export such as FCP7 XML, AAF or OpenTimelineIO rather than expecting a Premiere project to open unchanged. The site lists the suite as early alpha or still in development, so expect rough edges.
Where to download
The guide sends you to the official ArtCraft app pages and the storytold organization on GitHub, and says it never hosts application binaries. Its short safety check is worth reading on its own: confirm the repository owner and release history, and treat keyword-stuffed repositories or unexpected .7z or .run archives as reasons to stop.
The paid kit
The guide itself is free. The only paid part is the $19 Switcher Kit, a one-time download with a 13-topic migration PDF, a printable shortcut sheet for four apps, 12 color-grading LUTs, 12 editable LightCraft presets and 16 PhotoCraft brush tips. The ArtCraft software stays free whether or not you buy it. Craft Switcher states that it isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by ArtCraft, Storyteller.ai or Adobe.
