A closer look at DebateCue: Debate Timer
A debate and speech timer for iPhone with format presets, prep banks and overtime visibility.
Keep each side's prep time separate
DebateCue gives each side its own prep clock, with pause and resume controls. That addresses a small bookkeeping job during a round, keeping track of the time each side has used between speeches. The round view also shows the current segment, the next segment and overtime.
Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas and Policy/CX presets provide a starting order. A speech and presentation mode covers timing outside a full debate round.
Core timing and paid extras
The developer describes the core timer as offline, with no account required and round state stored on the device. The US iPhone listing is free to download with in-app purchases and requires iOS 17 or later.
The website says Premium adds saved custom formats, extra cue packs, themes and local export. It lists $2.99 weekly or $24.99 yearly, with a three-day weekly trial when eligible. These are auto-renewing subscriptions. The terms name the platform stores and RevenueCat for purchase processing and subscription management.
Set the clock to your event
The presets are common editable defaults, not official competition rules. DebateCue has no affiliation with a league or tournament organization. Confirm the segment lengths and prep allowances for the event before using a preset to time a round.
