A closer look at TowerScope: Cell Tower Map
An iPhone and iPad utility for mapping OpenCellID observations and inspecting cell identifiers, dates and sample counts.
Look at the record behind the marker
TowerScope puts cellular observations on a map, then lets you inspect the cell ID, carrier codes, sample count and observation dates behind a result. A marker can represent a logical cell, sector or estimated site. It doesn't confirm a physical tower's location.
Filters cover radio generations from 2G through 5G, carriers and point types. The data comes from OpenCellID observations through TowerScope's own backend. A missing result can mean the dataset has a gap. Band labels describe a catalog of possible frequencies, rather than an exact cell's current band.
The speed test follows your connection
The optional test reports latency, download and upload results for the active internet connection. It doesn't measure a selected tower. A full run transfers up to about 16 MB of test data, according to the support page. The privacy notice says this test connects directly to Cloudflare.
Free download, paid access
The App Store listing requires a one-time lifetime in-app purchase to unlock access. It advertises no recurring fee or ads, and no TowerScope account is needed.
The privacy notice describes map requests that include the visible area and technical connection data. It also says the map can be explored manually without granting location permission.
