Project overview

The short version

Read the full Project Note

AI Translate Manga is a small early-access service run by an individual operator, Li Xiang, for reading Japanese manga in English or Simplified Chinese. On the website you sign in with Google, upload PNG or JPG pages up to 5 MB or a PDF up to 50 MB, up to 20 pages a batch, and get pages back with the dialogue translated in place. A desktop Chrome extension does the same on reader sites, including canvas-based readers, using your website account and only sending a page when you click Translate or turn on automatic reading. Four pages are free for 30 days, and after that a one-time pack of 100 pages costs $4.99, valid for 12 months with no auto-renewal. The privacy notice says pages go to Torii for translation, results stay private until you delete them, and it advises against uploading sensitive material because Torii sets no fixed deletion period.
