A closer look at Pitch Tempo

Pitch Tempo estimates a song's key and BPM, then changes pitch and tempo independently so you can download a practice copy. Free, no account needed, with guest uploads deleted after 24 hours.

Practice copies in a different key

A singer who needs a song two semitones lower, or a guitarist trying to learn a fast solo, usually wants the original recording, changed just enough to practice with. Pitch Tempo does that in the browser. Upload a track and it estimates the key and BPM first, so you know what you're starting from. Then you shift pitch anywhere from 12 semitones down to 12 up, or set tempo from 50% to 150%, and the two settings stay independent. Slowing a passage down doesn't drop its pitch.

The tool runs as a short chat. You can type what you want changed, hear a preview of the opening 20 seconds and download the result.

Limits and calculators

Files can be up to 5 minutes long and 100 MB, in MP3, WAV, AAC and other common formats. Guests can start three new sessions in any 24 hours without an account. A free account raises that to five an hour and keeps your history.

If you only need the numbers, the BPM-to-tempo and key transposition calculators work without uploading anything, which is handy for planning a practice copy before you make it.

What happens to your audio

Audio is processed on Pitch Tempo's own server rather than in the browser. The privacy policy says guest audio expires after 24 hours and account audio after 7 days, while detected values and completed changes stay in your account history. It also says uploads are never published or used to train AI models, and asks that you only upload audio you're allowed to use. Analytics are optional and off until you allow them.
