A closer look at ViraSIM
Prepaid travel eSIMs for 210+ destinations, with the network listed on each plan and a QR code delivered by email.
What it does
ViraSIM sells prepaid data eSIMs for travel. You pick a country or region, pay, and get a QR code by email within minutes. You scan it before you fly, switch it on when you land, and your phone uses a local network without swapping the physical SIM. The phone has to support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. The store covers more than 210 destinations, plus regional plans such as one for 48 European countries and a global plan, and it has iPhone and Android apps as well as the website.
Each destination page lists the plans with the network they run on. Japan, for example, has 24 plans, from 1 GB for 7 days at $2.52 and 5 GB for 30 days at $6.48 on docomo to unlimited plans on Rakuten, SoftBank and au that run from $12 for 3 days to $69.12 for 30 days. Japan's plans are data only, so calls go through apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime, though some destinations include calls and texts. The destination pages also estimate how much data a trip needs, at about 0.5 to 1 GB a day for maps, messaging and light browsing.
Where the plans come from
ViraSIM doesn't run its own network. Its privacy policy says each plan is supplied by Airalo, eSIM Access or another eSIM wholesaler working with local carriers, and that ViraSIM passes them the order details needed to issue and support the eSIM. The store is run by Marketania LLC in Rockville, Maryland, which publishes its postal address and phone number. The refund policy gives a full refund within 14 days if the eSIM is still unactivated and unused. Some plans activate as soon as they're installed, so check a plan's activation rule before installing it early. For a used plan, a refund or replacement is reviewed only when a fault on ViraSIM's or the supplier's side stops it from working.
Your data
Support starts with an automated assistant that sends limited conversation and order details to OpenAI, and typing "talk to human" reaches a person. Outside the EU, the UK and Switzerland, website analytics and advertising measurement are on by default, including the Meta Pixel, Google Ads and a ChatGPT ads pixel. You can turn them off under Privacy choices, and Global Privacy Control switches advertising measurement off. In those three regions they stay off until you allow them. The privacy policy, effective November 1, 2026, lists retention periods, such as 13 months for website analytics and up to 7 years for order records, and signed-in customers can download their data from the account page.
