Project Note

A closer look at WhaleBlip

WhaleBlip shows big Hyperliquid perpetual trades in Chinese: who opened, closed or got liquidated, with size, leverage and liquidation price. It also covers funding rates, Polymarket bets and translated crypto news, with a free site and Telegram channel and paid real-time alerts.

What it does

On Hyperliquid, every trade's buyer and seller address is public, which is what makes whale tracking possible. WhaleBlip reads that public data and turns it into a feed for Chinese-speaking traders. When a large order fills, it shows which coin, whether the address opened or closed a long or short, flipped direction or was liquidated, and the size, average price, resulting position, leverage and liquidation price. Each address has its own page with its history.

The About page explains the method in more detail than most trackers do. A big market order fills against many resting orders, so WhaleBlip first merges those pieces back into one order. Thresholds depend on the coin: $1 million for BTC, $500,000 for ETH, $250,000 for other top-ten coins and $100,000 for the rest. It only counts the side that took liquidity, since the other side is usually a market maker, and it checks each address's own fills to tell an open from a close.

Beyond whale trades

There are pages for current whale positions, a leaderboard, funding rates and a watchlist. A prediction-market page tracks Polymarket bets of $10,000 or more and odds that move 10 points within an hour, with questions translated into Chinese. A news feed collects announcements from the Fed, SEC, CFTC and White House, Strategy's 8-K filings, four crypto outlets and Trump's Truth Social posts, with AI-translated headlines and one- or two-line summaries.

Alerts and the business model

The free Telegram channel posts only the largest moves, such as whale trades from $1 million and liquidations from $200,000, about eight minutes behind real time and capped at around ten an hour, plus a daily summary at 9am Beijing time. The Telegram bot lets you follow specific addresses and set your own coin and size thresholds, and real-time delivery is the paid tier. You can view, pause or delete your bot settings and data with commands.

Channel messages carry exchange referral links, which are labelled as invite links, and every message says it's data and commentary, not investment advice. The site describes itself as showing on-chain data without making trade calls. Following whales can still mislead, since a large trader may be hedging elsewhere, and the site's own guides include a risk warning.
