A closer look at wordradar
wordradar is a beta keyword research API for indie SEO builders and AI agents. It records first-seen dates for keywords in its corpus, tracks new websites on Hacker News, scores SERP difficulty and exposes the data through REST and a native MCP server.
What it does
The usual way to find a niche-site keyword is to look at what's already big and hope nobody has taken it. wordradar tries to catch terms as they appear instead. It scans a suggest-keyword corpus every day, which the homepage describes as a million words, and records each term in a ledger with its first-seen date, a type of new, re-spiking or evergreen, and direction tags such as AI, tools or games. The appeal is that you can ask what showed up this week rather than browse a static list.
Other data sits next to the ledger. A new-site radar lists domains that appear on Hacker News with their points and first-seen date. Proxy-KD takes a top-10 results page and returns a rough difficulty score from 0 to 100, based on signals like free subdomains, user-generated pages and brand domains, with the weights published. There are rising Google Trends queries, and a domain timeline that pairs registration data with Wayback snapshots for checking expired domains. A site-matching column suggests which of your own sites should take a new word.
Who it is for
Indie builders and SEO researchers who spin up small sites, and developers who want their agents to do keyword work. Every data source is offered both as a REST endpoint and as an MCP tool, so you can point Claude or Cursor at it. The public radar page is the easy first look. At the start of November it listed 28,740 words in its ledger, with the top 20 rows of each board free and the rest locked behind the API. Some labels on that page appear in Chinese.
Access, price and data
wordradar is in an invite-only private beta, with free credits for early users. Prepaid credit packs are one-time purchases that don't expire: $19 for 2,000 credits, $49 for 6,500 and $99 for 15,000, paid through Stripe. The site estimates a niche deep-dive at about 20 to 40 credits. It also says its research signals don't guarantee rankings, traffic or revenue, and its difficulty score is a heuristic.
The privacy policy, updated October 25, 2026, lists account details, API usage logs for metering, transactional email and Google Analytics page counts. It says there are no ad networks, that card details go only to Stripe, and that data lives on its own US server behind Cloudflare.
