A closer look at ZequnWeb Redirect Map Checker

A free checker for redirect spreadsheets, flagging loops, unnecessary hops and conflicting destinations.

Old URL, new URL

Before a redesign moves pages, a redirect spreadsheet can use a consistency check. ZequnWeb’s free tool accepts up to 2,000 pairs, with an old URL and new URL separated by a tab on each line. The form asks for the header to be removed. Relative paths resolve against the original site address; a domain move needs full URLs in both columns.

Catch a loop in the plan

The checker looks for a loop back to an earlier URL, a chain through an intermediate page, or different destinations assigned to one source. For example, a plan that routes page A through page B before reaching page C contains a chain worth reviewing before implementation. This is a check of the pasted relationships.

Still test the live redirects

The tool does not fetch destinations, confirm 301 or 308 responses, inspect content or indexing, or interpret wildcard rules. Case, query strings and trailing slashes stay distinct. Server behavior can therefore differ from a map that looks consistent here.

ZequnWeb says processing stays in the browser and the map is not uploaded. Ordinary site analytics follow the visitor’s cookie settings; that is separate from the tool’s stated handling of the pasted plan.
