A closer look at Digital Underground

A free marketplace where indie builders list and promote their apps, tools and books.

A marketplace that stays out of the checkout

Listing takes three steps. Paste a link, check the name, pitch and image the autofill pulls in, pick a category and stage, and publish after an automatic check. Unfinished projects are welcome. Each listing sends buyers to the maker's own store, which is why there's no commission to take.

It's small. The marketplace showed 16 projects on October 24, 2026, including a meal planner priced at CA$24, a $4.99 file-renaming utility, a news-brief app and a self-hosted game builder. For a maker, a short list means a new listing isn't buried. For a visitor, it's a list you can read in one sitting.

The weekly league

The Maker League is a free vote that runs Thursday to Thursday, with one vote per visitor per week. Outside makers' live listings are entered automatically, and the winner gets the homepage spotlight and a gold badge as Maker of the Week. The site says its own products and those of Kerzy Labs aren't eligible for awards, that there's no paid placement, and that any future paid featured slots will be labelled as sponsored.

Who runs it

Digital Underground is an independent creator business in Ontario, Canada, and it sells its own apps, guides and AI tools in the same store. That's how it funds the free marketplace, and it's worth knowing when you see its products next to everyone else's. The privacy policy, updated October 22, 2026, says the site uses no advertising trackers or analytics cookies and keeps only anonymous daily totals of visits and clicks.
