Long-form Project Note

A closer look at Markovo

A hosted file-to-Markdown converter with asset bundles, developer interfaces and signed-in beta formats.

This note reflects a first-time user perspective.

Keep the images with the text

Markovo aims to turn files into Markdown that can move into document workflows and AI tools. The homepage shows maker-provided examples for figures, tables, formulas and scanned text. It also explains a practical difference between copying Markdown and downloading a bundle: relative image links need their accompanying files.

The connection does not change where conversion happens

The service offers a web uploader, REST API, CLI and MCP connections. Its CLI documentation explicitly describes remote conversion using account quota. Someone automating local files should understand that those files are uploaded to the service. No upload or account connection was made for this Project Note.

Formats have different limits

The documentation distinguishes public PDF conversion from signed-in beta formats. It says supported video conversion transcribes the audio track, without analyzing frames or identifying speakers. Formula handling also carries a warning to compare equations with the original.

Those distinctions make the broad format list more useful. The public examples and documentation explain the intended output, but they do not establish accuracy on a reader's own files. Retention and deletion claims were not tested here.
