Project Note

A closer look at Submit Your Startup

Submit Your Startup is a launch directory with 30 free launch spots a week. Each launch gets a page, votes and a discussion thread, and the weekly board ranks launches by votes from their first seven days. A $19 option launches sooner and a $29 featured week buys a labelled ad spot, but payment never changes rank.

What it does

Submit Your Startup works like a weekly launch board. You submit your startup, and it joins a queue for the next week that still has one of its 30 free spots, oldest submission first, or a later week you choose. On its day, it goes live with a public page where people can vote and comment. Every launch from a week sits on that week's board and is ranked by the votes it collected in its own first seven days. The front page shows the day's scheduled release times, and there are category pages, a leaderboard, an archive by date and an optional daily or weekly email of new launches.

It is young. On 6 November 2026 the about page counted 215 listed startups and 51 votes in total, so a launch here is a small, steady boost rather than a flood of visitors.

What money can and can't buy

The site is unusually clear about its business model. Launching, voting, commenting and the badge are free. There are two paid options: $19 to go live as soon as payment is confirmed instead of waiting for a free spot, and $29 for a featured week, which puts a startup in a front-page band marked as an ad and highlights its row in gold. The how-we-make-money page lists what payment never buys: votes, vote weight, a ranked position, comments, editorial picks or a followed link.

Links are handled the same way. By default a listing's link to your site is marked as user content for search engines. The only route to a followed link is free: add the site's badge to your own site, and it adds a verified seal as well. Sponsored ads elsewhere on the page are labelled and never ranked.

Accounts and data

Accounts use email and password, or GitHub or Google sign-in, and founders can edit, archive or delete their listings. The privacy policy says Stripe handles payments, newsletter emails go through Resend with one-click unsubscribe, and site analytics come from a cookieless service, with only strictly necessary sign-in cookies. Listings and their vote counts are public.
