A closer look at 12 Axes Test

12 Axes Test is a free political values quiz. Answer 36, 60 or 288 statements and get a score on 12 axes, the closest of 38 ideologies, and comparisons with countries and public figures. Answers stay in your browser unless you buy the optional PDF reading.

What it does

Most political quizzes put you on one left-right line or a two-axis grid. 12 Axes Test scores you on twelve, grouped into four categories, with each axis running between two values. Every statement you answer moves you along one of them, and your score on each is the share you lean toward the first value. You pick the length: a 36-statement quick test that takes about three minutes, a 60-statement version, or the full 288 statements in about twenty minutes.

The result shows your twelve scores, the closest of 38 ideologies, and pages that compare you with countries and with public figures. The example results on the homepage use real portraits with credits printed on each, and the site says the scores are examples, not real people's answers. The test is available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and French.

Privacy, which matters here

Political opinions are sensitive, and the privacy page treats them that way in unusual detail. There's no account. Your answers are kept in your browser's local storage, and a share link carries only your twelve scores. Outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the twelve scores are also saved anonymously for site-wide statistics; inside those regions nothing is stored. Keenloom, which runs the site, is named as responsible for the data.

The paid Dossier

The one paid product is the Political Values Dossier, a PDF that quotes your answers and reads them together, priced at US$6.90 for the 60-statement test or US$14.90 for the 288-statement version, as a single payment. Buying it is the only time your answers leave the browser. You give explicit consent at checkout, AI models from third-party providers write the reading from your answers and scores (your email and name aren't sent to them), and each passage is checked against what you answered. Answers are kept encrypted for 180 days after payment and then deleted, the PDF is deleted seven days after it's sent, and payment runs through Waffo in Hong Kong. If a full reading can't be written, the order is refunded automatically within 48 hours.
