You upload an image, or paste a link to one, and IsThisImageAI tells you whether it looks AI-generated. The result is a verdict, such as Likely AI-generated, with a confidence score and reasons written in plain English. The site's example lists lighting on the subject that doesn't match the background, unusually smooth and repetitive textures, and no camera metadata in the file. It accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC, and shrinks large photos automatically.

The free tier is enough for occasional checks: 20 images a month, one key reason per result, and no account. Pro adds a heatmap that marks which parts of the image look generated, every reason instead of one, and batch checking, which helps if you're reviewing a set of submissions or listing photos rather than a single picture.

Pro is $3.99 a month for 150 images. Max is $9.99 a month for 1,000 images and adds a PDF report export. The API plan is $29.99 a month for 12,000 calls, returning the verdict and confidence as JSON with API-key authentication. Paid plans sign you in with a one-time email link rather than a password.

The privacy page is short and specific. An uploaded or linked image is held in memory only long enough to run the detector, and the temporary file on the inference service is deleted once the score is computed. Images aren't kept in a gallery or used for training. The text of the verdict, score, reasons and heatmap numbers is kept for up to an hour so Max users can download a report, and contains no image data. Free checks are counted with a random cookie and a hashed IP address, which the site admits can be bypassed.

A detector gives a probability, not proof, and the confidence score is there to show how sure it is. Treat a verdict as one signal alongside things like where the image came from, especially before acting on it.
