Project Note

A closer look at Mashup Atlas

Mashup Atlas lists nine game mashups: six browser games you can play from their creator's own host, and three PC mods that combine games such as Skyrim and Minecraft. Each entry says what you need, links to the creator's page rather than files, and dates when the sources were read.

What it does

Mashup Atlas collects game mashups, the projects that combine two games, and sorts them by how you would actually use them. Six are browser games by Andrew Nakas, such as Blockrealm, Night Swing and GameMash, which rebuild the feel of other games' mechanics from scratch. They need a desktop browser with a keyboard and mouse, and each loads from the creator's own hosting only after you press Play. The other three are PC mods for games you already own: SkyCraft joins Skyrim and Minecraft, ER Mario brings Super Mario 64 into Elden Ring, and ArkWeb pairs Spider-Man with Batman: Arkham Knight.

Each entry lists what you need. ER Mario, for example, requires Elden Ring on Steam plus your own US copy of the Super Mario 64 ROM and runs offline only, while ArkWeb needs both Steam games running at once and a specific Spider-Man version. A search box helps if you remember a game or character from a clip.

How careful it is

The about page is the most interesting part. Every label on an entry stands for a specific piece of evidence, and the site refuses a label when that evidence is missing. It records the date and source commit it read for each project, links to the creator's page rather than to download files, and says it does not host, mirror or vouch for any files. It also says it never provides ROMs or points to where to find them. Every entry is currently marked not play-tested, and because none of the creators say they used AI, nothing is labelled AI-made despite the domain name.

What to keep in mind

These are fan projects built on other companies' games, so the mods depend on you owning those games and following each creator's own instructions, and ROM-based mods carry the usual legal caveats about supplying your own copy. The browser games are separate tributes rather than official versions.

The site itself needs no account and uses no cookies. It measures visits with a self-hosted Plausible setup, and pressing Play connects you to the game creator's host, which has its own terms.
