Project Note

A closer look at Podpisat

Podpisat.sk is a free Slovak tool for signing PDF documents online. You add a drawn or typed signature anywhere on any page and download the signed PDF, with no account and no upload, since the work happens in the browser. It explains clearly when a simple electronic signature is enough and when a qualified one is needed.

What it does

Podpisat.sk handles the common chore of signing a PDF without a printer or scanner. Upload the file, add a signature by drawing it with a mouse or finger or by typing it, then drag it to exactly the spot you need on any page and download the result. The output is the original PDF with the signature inserted, not a scanned image. It works on desktop and on phones and tablets.

The site's main promise is that the document never leaves your device. Processing happens in the browser, nothing is uploaded, and no copy remains on the site after you sign. There is no account to create and no limit on the number of documents.

What a signature like this is good for

The FAQ and guides are clear about the legal side. Under the EU's eIDAS regulation, a simple electronic signature like this one is acceptable for everyday contracts, orders and agreements when the parties agree to it. Some acts, such as certain filings with authorities, require a qualified electronic signature backed by a qualified certificate, and this tool doesn't provide that. Separate guides explain the three signature levels and where the line falls for contracts.

Plans and limits

Signing is free for individuals and businesses alike. Paid plans are listed but not yet available: a Business tier with unlimited documents, team management, history and an archive, and an Enterprise tier with an API, advanced verification and branding. The page invites businesses to leave their details for updates, but notes that the contact form isn't yet connected to email, so messages sent through it won't arrive. The interface is in Slovak and English, and the site comes from Verde Holding Kft., the company behind several Hungarian business tools.
