A closer look at RaumLens

RaumLens is an AI landscape design tool that turns a photo of one outdoor planting area into a redesign concept and a planting plan with catalog plants, placement notes and quantity estimates.

One bed at a time

RaumLens is deliberately narrow. You upload a JPG, PNG or WebP of one outdoor planting area, such as a front bed, a backyard border or a courtyard, with the house, path, fence or tree that should stay in the frame. The site asks for the area's approximate size, sunlight and how much maintenance you can manage, and it suggests a climate preset from your region that you can correct before it filters plants. Drainage, grading and construction work are out of scope.

What comes back is a redesign concept that keeps your original viewpoint, so you can compare it against the photo, and a structured planting plan. The plan names three to eight plants, gives each a numbered role and a reason it suits the spot, and adds placement notes and estimated quantity ranges worked out from your measurements and catalog spacing. The site is careful to call those ranges estimates rather than exact quantities, and it adds notes on features to keep and assumptions to check before you buy anything.

Where the plants come from

Every suggestion comes from a reviewed plant catalog, and the catalog snapshot is saved with your design, so the plan doesn't shift if the catalog changes later. That makes the output more like a shopping list you can take to a nursery than a mood board. The example gallery mixes one real yard photo (a 6 by 12 foot front bed in the Boston area, zone 7a) with backyard and courtyard pairs that are AI-generated demonstrations, and the site labels which is which.

Credits and your photos

New users can try RaumLens for free. After that, Garden Monthly is $9 for 30 credits and Pro Monthly is $19 for 100 credits, with yearly and one-time packages too. Unused subscription credits expire at the end of the billing period, a credit is restored when a result can't be delivered, and the refund policy covers a charge within 14 days if its credits are unused. Checkout runs through Creem.

The privacy policy, last updated October 7, 2026, says your photo and instructions go to the AI image provider the service uses and may be copied to object storage so the result can be shown in your account. Inputs and outputs stay there until you delete them or the retention period ends. A draft kept in the browser expires after 24 hours. The service isn't meant for anyone under 18.
