Project Note

A closer look at ShimmerPic

ShimmerPic is a paid web studio for AI image generation and editing. It runs OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 Flare and Sunburst plus models such as Seedream and Nano Banana, with photo templates, a library of about 500 community prompts and pay-per-image credits.

What it does

ShimmerPic puts several image models behind one studio and one credit balance. The default is GPT Image 2.5, which OpenAI released in September 2026 as two API models, Flare for speed and Sunburst for detail. The models page also lists Seedream 5.0, Nano Banana and MAI Image. You write a prompt or open a template, add reference photos if you want, set the size and quality, and generate. The Studio shows the exact credit cost before you press the button.

There are two ways to start. About 20 templates are the site's own, each taking one photo and returning a set look such as a birthday shoot or an outfit change. The prompt library has about 500 prompts in categories like posters, product shots and infographics, each shown with its result and credited to the person who shared it. A few of those community prompts are styled after real brands, so check the output before you use it commercially.

What it costs

New accounts get 15 free credits, and free images carry a watermark. After that you buy packs from $2.99 for 60 credits, which never expire, or a monthly or yearly plan whose credits last 90 days. A 1K standard image costs 3 credits and a 4K high-quality one costs 40, so the site's own worked example runs from about 7 cents to $2 per image. Flare and Sunburst cost the same.

Refusals are the part to read first. Technical failures are refunded in full. A request the site's own check refuses before it runs keeps 3 credits plus 3 per photo, and a request refused by the model or blocked after generation keeps the full price.

Privacy and fine print

The privacy policy names Springtide Labs, LLC in Delaware as the company behind ShimmerPic. Prompts and reference images go to APIMart, which runs the models, and may also be sent to OpenAI for content screening. The site records each step you take through the app, from opening a page to reaching checkout, tied to a cookie and to your account once you sign in. Results stay private until you download or share them. The content policy is specific and strict. ShimmerPic says it is an independent tool and not affiliated with OpenAI. For occasional image work it is a straightforward way in. Just budget for the refusal rules.
